⛏️ Minecraft Enchantment Calculator

Find the optimal order to combine enchantments — save XP, avoid "Too Expensive!"

🔧 1. Choose Your Item

✅ Optimal Anvil Plan

Total Cost: 0 XP
💡 Tip: Prepare the enchantments on books first, then combine the result with your item. This minimizes prior work penalty and keeps costs low.

    📖 How It Works

In Minecraft, each anvil use increases a prior work penalty that doubles the cost (2n - 1). If the penalty gets too high, the anvil says "Too Expensive!". This calculator finds the optimal order to combine enchantments, minimizing total XP cost and avoiding the dreaded limit.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What order should I combine enchantments?

Always combine books together first (preparing a "super book"), then apply the prepared book to your item in one final anvil use. This calculator finds the exact order for the minimum XP cost.

Why is my anvil saying "Too Expensive!"?

Each anvil use adds a prior work penalty (doubling each time). After 6 uses on one item, the cost becomes prohibitive. Our calculator ensures you stay within the limit.

    Can I combine incompatible enchantments?

No. Sharpness and Smite can't go on the same item. Silk Touch and Fortune are mutually exclusive. The calculator automatically prevents incompatible combinations.

Does this work for Java and Bedrock Edition?

Yes! The anvil mechanics are identical in both Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft.
